Rainbow Row USA Magnet

Rainbow Row is a famous series of thirteen colourful historic houses in Charleston, South Carolina. Located on East Bay Street, near the battery, these houses are one of the most photographed and iconic sights in the city. The houses were built in the mid-18th century and were originally used as commercial buildings. After the Civil War, the area fell into disrepair, but was restored in the 1930s and 1940s, with the owners painting the houses in vibrant pastel colours, inspired by Caribbean traditions. Today, Rainbow Row is a beautiful example of Charleston's commitment to historic preservation and a testament to its unique architectural heritage. The row of houses, with their varied colours of pink, yellow, blue, and green, creates a stunning visual display along the cobblestone street. It is a must-see for visitors to Charleston, offering a glimpse into the city's past and its vibrant, colourful present, especially when viewed under the bright Carolina sun.
