Rabbit and Moon Goddess Card

High above the earth, the goddess rides air currents to the yellow moon where the rabbit awaits. This painting by my mother was done in the "Tu-Aunqua" method where the design in drawn on tissue paper first, transferred onto paper backed silk fabric and then filled in with oil paints. It is an approach my mother learned from her mother. The term tu-aunqua, gleaned from an exhibit brochure, may have been a phonetic translation of "labour table painting" from Chinese.
