O heavenly Moon, I can see Thy light shining through the clouds tonight. Thou art ever above me wheresoever I walk, as if I am the prey and Thou art the hawk. Clouds do not ever conceal Thee for long; While I whistle and walk and sing a song the winds of the night are setting you free of those heavenly clouds that encompass Thee. Now send down Thy light to brighten my path; An abundance of radiance I know Thou hath, o radiant pearl in an ocean of black. You beautify the sky. Now what does it lack? Let not the sun come chase Thee away; Hold fast the night so that I may gaze upon Thee a little while more. You quiet my soul, make my spirit to soar; Such a pleasing thing is Thy gentle glow. "Farewell", I say, for now I must go. But I shall raise my eyes to see Thee soon. Thou art queen of the night, o lovely Moon.
