Kahena, de son vrai nom Dihya ou Damya, est une reine guerrière berbère zénète des Aurès qui combattit les Omeyyades lors de l'expansion islamique en Afrique du Nord au VIIe siècle Quinze ans après la mort du Prophète, les armées arabes abordaient l'Afrique du Nord. Pour faire face à l'envahisseur, la Kahena va organizer la résistance berbère, réaliser la difficile unité du Maghreb et infliger aux cavaliers arabes de cuisantes défaites. Elle possédait un don prophétique et était vénérée de son peuple. Elle fut l'une des premières féministes et reines guerrières de l'Histoire. Les occidentaux la comparent à Jeanne d'Arc et Ibn Khaldoun lui attribua des pouvoirs surnaturels.
