Purple Iris Floral Botanical Photographic Postcard

Irises commonly represent wisdom, faith, hope, courage and valour. The birth flower of February is the Iris suggesting loyalty and faithfulness. The Iris is also the 25th wedding anniversary flower for much the same meaning. The Iris was named for the Greek Goddess of Greek mythology who carried messages from heaven to earth on the arc of the rainbow. The Iris is one of the State flowers of Tennessee, purple colour in particular, and also inspired the fleur-de-lis design.
