Pulling Weeds Poem

This rack card features a poem written by the Awphul poet Kristopher Ivie. It is a poem that uses pulling weeds to the efforts taken to fight cancer. The poem reads "Weeds taking roots / Spreading throught / Poison them, strangle them / Rip them out". Poisoning and strangling are chemo and rip them out is surgery. The next stanza "Weeds buried deep / Venomous seeds / Finding us, binding us / Make us bleed" highlights the challenge of completely eradicating it. The third stanza, "Raiding our homes / Sown in our fields / Resist it, attack it / Make it yield" is about our efforts to eliminate carcinogens and improving cancer prevention. The final stanza, "Keep pulling weeds / Keep hope alive / We believe, We succeed / We Survive" is about beating cancer. The background image is of a small section of garden against a wooden fence with a rack, hoe, bucket, and gloves between pepper plants and the fence. There are ribbons tied to the plants as well as the implements. There is also a tomato plant on the right side. There is also a lavender ribbon watermark over the handles of the rack and hoe. On the back is a template with text in lavender letters. Lavender is the colour for all cancers. The default back text is "thank you for supporting the fight against cancer". This card can be used as a thank you for those helping with a charity, but can be changed to also serve as encouragement for those fighting cancer, for doctors and nurses, or for survivors.
