Princeton Congress - 1783 Metal Ornament

Princeton Congress - 1783 Metal Ornament

The Continental Congress meeting in Princeton was a consequential event during the American Revolutionary War. In the winter of 1783, as the war was winding down and the British were withdrawing from many American cities, the Continental Congress reconvened in Princeton, New Jersey. The decision to meet in Princeton was partly due to the proximity to the American and British armies. This gathering was significant as it allowed the Congress to address critical issues related to the end of the war, including demobilization of the Continental Army, veterans' compensation, and negotiating the terms of the Treaty of Paris, which would officially end the conflict. One of the most memorable moments during the Princeton Congress was the adoption of the Continental Army's furlough and pension plan. This resolution, drafted by Alexander Hamilton, addressed the soldiers' concerns over their back pay and pensions, which had been promised but often delayed during the war. It established a system for compensating veterans and granting them land in lieu of full pay. The Princeton Congress also played a crucial role in ratifying the Treaty of Paris in 1783, formally recognizing American independence from Britain. The successful negotiations and resolutions during this meeting helped pave the way for the orderly conclusion of the Revolutionary War and the establishment of the United States as an independent nation.

I purchased this Ornament for my mother as a keepsake for her late parents. She hasn't seen it yet, but I am sure she will love it. The picture quality came out way better than expected as this picture was blurry when I uploaded. I am ecstatic with this ornament. Great job!! I uploaded a semi decent picture and it came out even better than expected. The font was legible and clear, and this being hand written.
