Poster: Pipes of Pan - Jugend Magazine May 1896 Poster

Jugend Magazine was a German weekly publication in late 19th century that focused on the Art Nouveau movement, known as "Jugendstil." This image is a reproduction of the front cover of the May 1896 edition, which was the same year the magazine was launched. I believe the artist was Heinrich Vogeler but I do not know for sure. In anyone can confirm this or knows of another artist who illustrated this magazine cover, please let me know in the comments (below). The image depicts Pan, the mythological goat-footed Greek god, playing his pipes and enchanting a young maiden or nymph who sits across from him. The sun is shinning. The fields are fertile and alive with flowers. Certainly the scene is set for the birth of the Art Nouveau movement and Jugend Magazine. ~ Near the bottom of the image are the words "G. Hirch" - the author of "Jugend," and the word "München" - meaning Munich. Under the illustration are the words "Münchner illustrierte Wochenschrift fur Kunst und Leben" which means "Munich Illustrated Weekly Magazine for Art and Life." This image has been professionally restored by us. It has been retouched where faded, and colours have been enhanced. It is available as a poster or a canvas print. Framing is also available.
