I painted this beautiful oil landscape for my Portuguese son-in-law who loves Portugal and would love to have a souvenir from their favourite corner in Cascais, i.e. a cape with a museum and the famous lighthouse of St. Marty. Cascais is a small town by the ocean, only half an hour from Lisbon. It is a very popular resort but retains a lovely atmosphere and is one of the most attractive villages in Portugal. The Santa Marta lighthouse (Farol de Santa Marta) is a beautiful vantage point with a terrace over the ocean. Cascais is beautiful and it is worth spending more time wandering the streets of the city, seeing the port, monuments and miniature beaches separated by high rocks. There is a fort and a museum nearby - the Casa de Santa Maria residence. Inside the museum, you can admire the famous azulejos and other beautiful wall decorations. The fort's museum houses ancient optical devices and numerous exhibits related to the construction and network of Portuguese lighthouses. The tower of the lighthouse itself, built in 1868, is 20 metres high, with azulejos tiles inside and outside.
