This colourful photo presents the beautiful iron bridge called Dom Luís Bridge (or Ponte Luís I) which is located in Porto, a city in northern Portugal, over the Douro River. It was built in 1881–85 from a design by a disciple of the French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel. Douro River is spanned in central Porto by several bridges. Porto is sometimes called “the city of bridges”. The top deck has the Metro do Porto light rail system (line D) and a pedestrian walkway, offering great views of the historic centre of Porto, the Port wine caves of Vila Nova de Gaia, and the river Douro. The lower bridge is for road traffic and has pedestrian walkways on the side. You can gift this item to a friend or family member who likes Portugal or anyone who was born in Porto.
