These gorgeous blooms are associated with the 4th wedding anniversary and, in Asia, they are said to mean "You are the beat of my heart". There are many tales regarding hydrangeas; some folklore indicates they can be used to break curses or hexes. There is also a zodiac reference. As far as the floriography is concerned, hydrangeas symbolize friendship, devotion, understanding, love, gratitude, enlightenment, delicate beauty, grace, acceptance and peace. That may be one of the reasons that hydrangeas have always maintained some level of popularity in bridal bouquets.
