Planet Jupiter Great Red Spot Watch

Looking like an impressionist artist painting or a fine sample of agate gemstone, this is actually a photograph taken by the NASA Voyager 1 spacecraft as it flew past the planet Jupiter. Multiple colour filters were used to capture the nuances of the turbulent Jovian atmosphere that creates the beautiful bands and spots swirling on the gas giant Jupiter. The Voyager missions have left the Solar System and are on their way though interstellar space.
