Plane - Factory - The Great Liberator 1943 Postcard

Colorized photo from 1943 Original Title: Miscellaneous collection of photographs of aircraft production. Double assembly line Photographer: Howard R. Hollem Location: Forth Worth Texas This is the Consoildated's Fort Worth Texas factory. They built planes from 1923-1944. As you can see here they had a twin assembly line, each plane made to order, some have different coloring. Each plane is pulled along a chain, scaffolding and all. The first three planes are in the desert sand scheme, they are B-24D's known as the Liberator, but the company simply called them Model 32. These were heavy bombers. It had long range abilities, and could carry the heavy bombs. I believe they were also hard to fly, but despite that, these were the most ordered item with around 18,500 units across companies. It holds the record as the worlds most produced bomber, heavy bomber, multi-engine aircraft and American military air craft in history. The next two behind them, the green ones, are PB4Y-1 Liberators, used for sea patrol and anti-submarine missions. Behind those is another B-24D, each plane seems to have a different color scheme, like altering the tail color. On the right are a couple of C-87 Liberator Express transports (adapted for cargo).
