Picture of Western traders at Yokohama transporting merchandise and westerners By Utagawa, Sadahide. Yokohama koeki seiyojin nimotsu unso no zu American and French ships in a harbour transporting cargo and passengers. His original name was Hashimoto. He was a pupil of Kunisada. Best appreciated and noted are his Yokohamae prints from the Western enclave of Yokohama depicting scenes with Westerners. At his time he was obviously among the top appreciated designers, as his works were displayed in the World Exhibition in Paris in 1866 at the Japanese pavillion together with such renowned artists like Zeshin Shibata.
