The Phantom Magician is considered by some to be the first superhero in comics. "The Adventures of Patsy" was a short-lived comic strip about a young girl who gets carried to the kingdom of Ods Bodkins by a kite. After having some strange adventures on her own, she was at a celebration where she met a handsome masked man in swashbuckling-style clothes. He introduced himself as the Phantom Magician and, from that point on, became the girl's constant companion and protector. Eventually, he brought Patsy home to Hollywood and revealed himself to be her long-lost uncle Phil. When Patsy became a child actor, Phil continued to be her guardian ... but for a short period of time, he had been something much more!
