Late afternoon sun illuminates the desert landscape in this panoramic colour photograph of Petrified Forest National Park near Holbrook, Arizona. Clumps of desert grass and an interwoven zigzag pattern of coarse reddish and fine taupe sands in the foreground lead your eye to a striated hill on the upper right of the frame. A row of small hills lines the distant horizon. Along the top third of the photo, a light blue sky with a few white clouds completes the background.
