This elaborate design comes from a block-printed and hand-drawn cotton chintz door curtain crafted in Isfahan, Iran in the Qajar period, sometime in the 1800s, now in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art (https://www.clevelandart.org/art/2014.20). Peacocks and other birds appear amid intricate vines with fanciful blossoms in the centre field and interior blue-ground border; striking end borders feature blossoms in leaf-outlined diamonds on alternating ground colours of white, mustard, red, and blue. A stunning piece of Persian textile design!
