Peranakan Floral Tiles Napkin
A decorative original 19th century Art Nouveau’s Majolica Tiles & Pattern Floor Tiles. These stunning tiles can be found on heritage listed colonial Architecture throughout Singapore, on buildings called shophouses. The tiles are said to be 'Peranakan Tiles', Peranakan is what the Chinese call Straits Of Malacca (Malaysia & Singapore) born Chinese people. Some appear Art Nouveau, while others look Art Deco. Enjoy the beautiful colours, symmetry, and detail of this tile.
The use of ceramic tiles from the Victorians had a big influence in Singapore in the late 19th - early 20th century and you will see many used on the exterior of many shophouses, with flowers most commonly used as a design.
