Peacock and Peonies by Hiroshige, Japanese Art Kitchen Towel
Peacock and Peonies (early 1840s) by artist: Andō Hiroshige is a vintage Japanese fine art wood block painting. Asian art featuring a beautiful peacock bird with peony flowers in bloom. This image originally came from a woodblock print.
About the artist:
Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重) (aka Andō) (1797-1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, one of the last great artists in that tradition. He was a member of the Utagawa school which comprised dozens of artists, and stood at the forefront of 19th century woodblock prints. Hiroshige is especially noted for using unusual vantage points, seasonal allusions, and striking colours. He adapted Western principles of perspective and receding space to his own works in order to achieve a sense of realistic depth.

I was actually surprised by the quality. The material feels like it can handle the wash and the print seems to be set deep in the fibers. BUT I have not washed it yet. The printing was accurate and looks like it can handle washing.
