Payne Park, Spring Training Coffee Mug

In 1924 the citizens of Sarasota chipped in to build a field for the Giants to practice and hold Spring training. The Sox and the Chicago White made this their home over the decades. The field is part of a city park now but spring training continues in Sarasota at the Ed Smith Stadium Complex on 12th Street. The Baltimore Orioles hold practice there these days. Please note, this image is from an old postcard so it will be slightly grainy in appearance. We think that makes it look fantastically vintage!

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
