Palm fronds in Los Angeles, California in 2013. Easterners, especially New Yorkers, make fun of LA - but I think it's the most beautiful city in the world. And I've seen the famous ones like Paris, Tokyo and Rome. Rome is bathed in golden sunlight, but Paris and San Franciso are gloomy, and Tokyo...the day I left it I promised myself I would never spend a summer there again. Incredible humidity and because of the tall buildings the air doesn't move. At the time (I don't know if it's changed, but the Japanese tend to change only superficially) there was no air conditioning or central heating because they were considered unnatural. Anyway.
