Parent and Child Turtle Golf Balls

There are several species of turtles. Some, like the stone turtle and soft-shelled turtle, live in ponds, while sea turtles live in the ocean. The turtle that became a family crest is the stone turtle. There is a turtle-shaped design with hair resembling straw all over it. In family crests, this is called a 'straw turtle.' It is thought that this is not a special turtle separate from the straw turtle, but rather one with aquatic plants like algae growing on its shell, originating from the turtle shell itself. The 'Kokon Chomonshu' records that around 1145-1151, a turtle with hair about a foot long was presented to Chisokuin Temple by someone from western Japan and was considered an auspicious turtle.
