"Over the whale road" - a 'kenning' (poetic phrase) from the famous Old English epic poem 'Beowulf' - is presented here in the Old English language, written in beautiful Old English runes, also known as Anglo-Saxon runes or 'the futhorc' (centre). This design also features the same phrase in Modern English (right), and in Old English, written in the English (Latin) alphabet (left). The background is a photo of the North Sea from the coast of Lincolnshire, England (UK).
