Oriental Orange Red Tan Asanoha Japan Pattern Fabric

Get your fashion project this cloth with this traditional asanoha fabric pattern. The colour is an orange red on a tan background. A traditional Japanese herb leaves stencil pattern in traditional Japanese colours. The Asanoha are in a hexagonal shape, and that is the reason why this pattern is called as such. Popular during the Edo period and still in demand today. This kind of pattern is often used on fabric for yukata or a jinbei, traditional Japanese clothes for in the hot summer months. But I have seen the pattern also used as part of a kimono. When you think of this type of fabric, resist dyeing comes to mind. In Japan vintage techniques are roketsuzome with wax, katazome, yuzen and tsutsgaki with rice paste. A favourite method of applying paste is by means of a stencil.

I have eight senior dancers graduating from Fleet-Wood Dancentre this year, and I wanted to make them something special. I enjoy making "keepsake dance totes" for my students when they graduate!. The fabric presses beautifully. I love the thickness of the fabric. Has more substance than cotton bought at my local fabric store. The result is a sturdy bag, full of little storage pockets, and a lifetime memory.
