Orangutans at Camp Leakey Postcard

Akmad is a famous animal mother, a cover girl on National Geographic magazine in October 1975, and her touching life story comprises chapter one in the book "Reflections of Eden." This gentle creature even suffered nightmares after she was left as an orphan. Her success at survival as well as continuing to have healthy babies born in the wild into the 21st century after being released back into the wild is amazing. In this photo, Akmad has just helped herself to our rice. It was a pleasure to share - even though she forgot to say please before she took it. I took this photograph in 2008, and Akmad's son is still enjoying life with his mommy in 2010. I use 100% of my profits on this item to support the ongoing rainforest and wildlife preservation work of Orangutan Foundation International.
