Paul Klee did created abstract images that could make such a statement in an unexpected way. This man, the "One Who Understands" is depicted using so few colours and so few geometric shapes and lines and yet he is able to portray empathy on his face. He looks like he is listening. Paul Klee was a German (born in Switzerland), (Münchenbuchsee 1879–1940 Muralto-Locarno who was associated with the German Expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter and then went on to teach at the Bauhaus.
