One Blue Tulip Notebook

Beautiful red, pink and purple tulips are painted in a Chinese yellow plant pot, with one single blue tulip hanging down. Tulips bloom everywhere in Jean’s garden in Umbria in the spring, especially after she brought back bulbs from Amsterdam and planted them everywhere. This is quite graphic in design, decorative, figurative and pleasing to the eye as is the purpose of colour theory, whereby the colours need to combine together harmoniously. This was a collection of horses that Jean did after painting the blue horse. After this she painted different colour horses in a very graphic style but also very illustrative. This is one of her first simple illustrative images and it is almost cartoonish in style. The red horse has an almost humourous ironic expression and the shapes are have a strange proportion in style with completely different colours -- it's fun and bright, with a big yellow sun. This is also one of the animals - Matilda - who is part of the Animal Adventure series.
