Once the Old Fool has Drank his Wine mug: This is a vintage art/ Illistration from: The English Dance of Death book published 1816, authored by Thomas Rowlandson, with metrical illustrations, by William Combe circa 1815. Here you have the man and woman of the house sitting in the living room, he is much older than her and is drinking, her younger lover awaits outside the window for the dink to put him to sleep as death pours a draught into the cup from above. Dance of Death, or Danse Macabre art: you see Death approach people of all stations and walks of life, reaffirming that Death is the great leveler/equalizer. They were produced as an artistic genre of religious works from the 1400s thru the 1800s, period to remind people of the fragility of their lives and how vain are the glories/pleasures of earthly life.
