This photo was shot in the Western Desert of Utah. Tucked into the Onaqui Mountains is a herd management area designated as public land. This is where a large herd of wild horses lives wondering through the desert at peace with their nature and the land. He is a beautiful example of the herd he belongs to. Hundreds of horses live under the bright stars of the desert. I visit them regularly to witness their interaction. I arrive before dawn and spend the day with them. I find hope and dignity in the way they conduct themselves. I always go home wishing I could stay longer and sure I will return.
