This piece started as a portrait of an old man sitting on a couch. To create a story, I set the couch in the middle of the sea, where it would eventually sink. The old man, a merchant, faces his end with calm resignation. The final draught is a scan of a pencil drawing that I painted in Procreate. Recommended for fishermen, boaters, and fans of Moby Dick or The Old Man and the Sea.
