Officers Quarters Fort Clatsop - Lewis And Clark Corps of Discovery Expedition. Fort Clatsop was setup as the winter quarters for expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark after reaching the Pacific Coast of Oregon, and the mouth of the Columbia River. The fort was located just outside of modern day Astoria. The Lewis and Clark Expedition lasted more than two years, and covered approximately 3,700 miles, and was one of the greatest explorations of the the American West and Manifest Destiny.
