Octopus Float Magnet

While life undersea varies quite a bit from land-side living, there are more similarities than one might expect. Take parades, for instance. Thanksgiving’s Day parades, military parades, gay pride parades – the occasions may be different, but the basic idea is the same: all the denizens of the sea show up very early in the morning with comfortable seating and picnics and mob the thoroughfares waiting for festivities to begin. And while everyone appreciates the marching bands, and dignitaries of note who glide by, waving sedately in seashell convertibles, it’s the floats and balloons that everyone shows up for, isn’t it? And under the sea, the floats really – well, float. Lovely Allegra will be posing in her fabulous conch gondola, waving her clam shell fan while her giant octopus friend, Antipodes shows off with colourful bioluminescent displays and intricate tentacle configurations – they’re sure to dazzle the crowd! So the next time you find yourself relaxing with an umbrella-festooned cocktail on a beach in Belize, or sunning yourself on the deck of a schooner off Catalina, take a moment to imagine the festivities that could be taking place very close by.
