NZ bird Silvereye TAHUHOU post card
Tauhou is a small bird that lives in the New Zealand forest. The European Name is Silver Eye. The birds in this print are drawn incorporating Maori Koru patterns. The koru (Māori for "loop") is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. I made stencils or 6 NZ birds a few years ago and made an outdoor mural with them. I decided to recreate my designs so I photographed them and redrew them using inkscape on my computer. This is the first of the series of six. I hope you like them. Go NZ!
