Nyugati station postcard
Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station), Budapest, Hungary The first station of the first Hungarian railway (between Pest and Vác was built in 1846. This small building was demolished. The new railway station was built by the Eiffel company and it was opened in 1877. Ten years later, in 1887, the first (electric) tram line of Budapest was also opened here. This line was built by the Siemens company. Today the old Ganz trams (on the photo) are replaced by new beautiful Siemens trams. (They have a number of problems, though, e.g. recently some doors wouldn't to open because of the wet weather...).
