Nutcracker Music Cover Page Print

This is a vintage cover page for the music for the tale The Nutcracker rewritten by Alexandre Dumas but orinally written by E.T.A. Hoffman. Hoffman's tale was called "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King". The Nutcracker was presented for the first time in St. Petersburg in 1892. The music was composed by Tschaikowsky during 1981-1982. The Nutcracker and the Mouse King had been adapted into several versions later and it was the latest one by Dumas that Tschaikowsky used to create the music. He did so reluctantly because he said he had great respect for the original author, Hoffman. Parts of the music became very popular later, especially the 20 minute suite for the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
