"Notre Dame, Paris" postcard
The famous cathedral of Notre Dame, in Paris' historical centre. Located at the historical Ile de France, Notre Dame was built from the 12th to 14th centuries at the site of a former Roman temple, but it was in the 18th century that it acquired the configuration we see today. During the French Revolution, it was partially destroyed and plundered, and it took 23 years to be restored in the 19th century. However, it remained nearly intact throughout the two WWs. It is one of the most visited monuments in France and its a magnet for tourists and locals.
