One popular Dad phrase, or "Dadism", is to evoke the idea that nobody said life was going to be fair. A possible variation is that nobody said life was going to be easy either. To have a world view based entirely on these notions may seem odd, but it fits into a huge variety of situations and allows the Dad to avoid having to think something through or admit to being wrong, which are two very important aspects of a Dad existence.
