Nefertiti was the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten, who ruled ancient Egypt from 1353 to 1336 BCE. Akhenaten and Nefertiti implemented a religious shift that sent shockwaves throughout the kingdom, instituting a single cult for the sun god Aten, eschewing all other gods. After Akhenaten's death, Nefertiti is believed to have ruled as Pharaoh for a short time before the rise of Tutunkhamun. For this festive and playful image of Nefertiti, we surround the famous sculpture of the beautiful queen with colourful banners, three gemstones used in ancient Egypt—lapis lazuli, carnelian, and amber—and, of course, a burning image of the sun.
