Navagio Beach Greece Postcard

Navagio Beach, also known as Shipwreck Beach, is an exposed cove on the coast of Zakynthos, in the Ionian Islands of Greece. It is defined by its towering white limestone cliffs and the clear, bright blue water. The beach is only accessible by boat and is home to the freightliner MV Panagiotis, which ran aground in 1980 and remains a central and defining feature of the beach. The dramatic setting and the presence of the shipwreck create a sense of adventure and isolation, despite its popularity. The towering cliffs create a natural barrier, enclosing the small, pebbly beach and making it feel cut off from the rest of the world. The best views are often considered to be from the cliffs above, but visiting the beach itself offers a unique perspective on the scale of the cliffs and the stranded vessel.
