Waiting for the Mardi Gras parade: The lady on the wrought iron bench reminded me of the flower children of the 60's. The brick sidewalk is a trademark of the historic district of Natchitoches. Some have called Natchitoches "Little New Orleans" and on this festive night, there was an air of laid-back, easy going revelry. As I sat across the road (earlier in the day), I sketched various scenes and people, drawing the attention of passers by. Then I realized that I was a part of the scene, as much as was the man who played his guitar and sang for the crowd a few yards down the street.
