Narrowboat winding card
A traditionally painted narrowboat being turned across the canal to face the other way, with autumn colored leaves in the background and bare trees. Winding a canal boat - turning it round in a 'winding hole', a specially widened part of the canal. There are two theories as to where the word originated, one from being turned with the help of the wind, in the days before engines, and the other from winding as in winding road.
