Naoe Kanetsugu Love and Justice Calligraphy Kanji T-Shirt

直江兼続: Naoe Kanetsugu, was a Japanese samurai of sengoku jidai. As the eldest son of Higuchi Kanetoyo, Kanetsugu was famed for his service to two generations of the Uesugi daimyos. Kanetsugu served first as a kosho to Uesugi Kenshin. After Kenshin had died, he served Kagekatsu, the adopted son of Kenshin. He is best known for convincing Kagekatsu to join forces with the Toyotomi, allegedly writing a scathing letter to Ieyasu before Sekigahara. After his death, he is acknowledged as the retainer whose efforts protected the Uesugi line. 愛を掲げ、義を貫く: "Ai wo kakage, Gi wo tsuranuku", literally mean "Spread the love, Implement the justice", it is referring to the image of Kanetsugu in both history and popular culture. The "love" here is referring to loving toward the people, homeland and daimyo. In the background is the kamon (family crest) of Naoe, Mitsu Yama (三つ山) or "Three mountain", on top is the armour set of Kanetsugu, with the unique samurai helmet of Kanetsugu that have the character "love" mounted, at the bottom is the samurai signature of Kanetsugu.
