NC Wyeth , was an American artist known for his realist paintings and illustrations of the old west. During his lifetime, Wyeth became one of America’s greatest illustrators and he created over 3,000 paintings and illustrations. His early trips to the old west inspired images of cowboys and Native Americans that dramatized the frontier. This painting is called “The Silent Fisherman” and depicts an Indian brave in a birch bark canoe fishing in quiet waters. A huge yellow sun is setting behind him fill ing the picture with glowing light.
