Mystical Blue Heart

This watercolor painting was created on handmade paper that was torn by hand to just the right size in order to highlight the paper's texture and quality. The blue heart symbolizes a human body, in which the dark or dense outer layers enclose the light of the soul. When the inner self awakens and opens to lofty spiritual goals, the light from above can enter the heart and increase the light within. Although spiritual progress often may bring challenging emotions, it also can be a gentle process, as shown here by the soft white light painted in a thin stream of white paint and the pastel core of pink and pale blue within the dark outer heart.
