About This Design

Mystic Mountain in Carina Nebula Hubble Space Coffee Mug

Mystic Mountain in Carina Nebula Hubble Space Coffee Mug

In the heart of the Carina Nebula, a tempestuous stellar nursery 7,500 light-years away, lies a cosmic battlefield known as Mystic Mountain. This colossal pillar of gas and dust, stretching three light-years high, appears to be locked in an eternal struggle. On one side, relentless winds and scorching radiation from neighbouring, monstrously hot stars relentlessly erode the mountain's form. Imagine cosmic sandblasting on a scale so immense it could reshape mountains! But Mystic Mountain holds a secret weapon. Deep within its swirling folds, invisible to our eyes, lie embryonic stars, stellar infants just beginning their fiery journey. These hidden newborns, fuelled by the very dust they're embedded in, fire off powerful jets of gas that streak outwards like celestial exhaust. These jets, a testament to the raw power of stellar birth, carve and sculpt the mountain from within, adding another layer to this dramatic cosmic dance. The Hubble Space Telescope, our keen astronomical eye, captures this breathtaking scene, a constant reminder of the fierce beauty and relentless activity that forge new stars in the vast expanse of the universe. - This file is in the public domain in the United States because it was solely created by NASA.

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
