Morphing Magic Suffrage Victory Ratification Flag Mug

Feel the excitement of watching the ratification flag appear once you pour hot liquid into the plain white mug. This is the 19th Amendment Suffrage Victory Flag. It is based on the American suffrage flag from the National Woman's Party (NWP) founded by Alice Paul. Once the 19th Amendment pass congress at the federal level it had to be ratified by 3/4 of the states in order to be added to the constitution. A star was added to the suffrage flag every time one of the 36 states necessary voted to ratify. Tennessee was the 36 state and came down to one vote ---a young congressman who was against ratification but was told by his mother to "be a good boy" and changed his vote at the last minute. He later had to hide in an attic to avoid angry mobs but he made his mom proud! On August 18,1920 Alice Paul added the last flag and hung it off the balcony of the NWP headquarters in Washington D.C.
