Monkey on a leash and cherry blossoms By Ando, Hiroshige. Sakura ni tsunagizaru Print shows a monkey sitting on a post with cherry blossoms falling around it. Born in Edo, Japan, Hiroshiges family name was Tokitaro, but he adopted the name of his mentor as per the custom of the time. His first work was a sketch of a procession done at the age of ten, and earned him the title of a prodigy. In 1828, Hiroshige began his own studio, but eventually moved to Kyoto to produce landscapes. His prints became very popular and emulated upon his return to Edo.

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
