Monkey Flowers, Unalaska Island Postcard

Yellow monkey flowers (Mimulus guttatus DC.) grow along the roadsides of Unalaska Island. They quickly multiply in areas where growth is favourable, forming thick clusters of plants and flowers. Their blossoms are similar to snapdragons but lack the fuzzy texture of the snapdragon blossom. The plant grows to 8 - 10 inches tall and they are a member of the figwort family.
