Momma's Front Porch Poster

Lazy Sundays down South with the wind blowing in off of the gulf... The distant sound of barking dogs and laughing children... The smell of gumbo wafting through the screen door... The creeky sound of the chains as you swing back and forth chatting with momma about life and love... This digital print is from a series titled "Louisiana Reframed" which is a collection of digital manipulations of photographs that I have taken all over Southwest Louisiana and New Orleans over the past 25 years. Originally taken with a 35mm camera, these images have been edited using a variety of digital techniques to evoke the appearance of memories. The blurriness, cloudiness, and muted colours mirror the "age-ing" of memory and recollections of places from the past. "Louisiana Reframed" is what I picture in my mind when I think of "home." This was taken on my own momma's front porch and the image is filled with many wonderful memories of happy moments spent on that porch with family and friends.
