Mitsukuni Defying the Skeleton Spectre Postcard
This is another colour print by the famous Japanese artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi (19th Century). This Japanese print is titled: Mitsukuni defying the skeleton spectre invoked by princess Takiyasha". In the print we can see the princess reading out the spell from a scroll, while Mitsukuni the warrior is drawing his katana (sword) from its scabbard in order to fight the giant skeleton that has appeared. Quite a scary situation to be in! This large print is actually made up of three smaller ones. The Japanese artist has signed each one of them in Kanji characters and Hiragana (Japanese writing).
